The Light at the End of the (NWR) Tunnel...

I started to work on writing my thesis today. Since I am starting a full-time PAYING job next Monday (woohoo!) I figured I should probably try to get a head start on my paper. I feel like I've written the same paper over and over again. Since my grad program kind of builds on my specific interests this final paper is pretty much just a compilation of several other papers that I've written over the course of the last year (with a couple new sources/info I'm sure). This will make the actual work less stressful, but it makes the whole process so much more boring.

But what this does mean is that I am almost DONE with my master's program! In a few short months I will be among the top 10% of the U.S. population in terms of educational attainment... I hope it benefits me! lol

Honeymoon... Unveiled!

So... our honeymoon planning has been in the works for some time now, but I didn't want to say anything until the tickets were booked (call it superstition, but I wanted to make sure I KNEW we were going before I said anything!). Well, guess what? The tickets are BOOKED!! =)

As a wedding gift, Jacob's parents offered to pay for our airline tickets and set us up with one of their timeshare resorts where ever we'd like to go (SCORE!). It didn't take much discussion for us to decide on a location... Here is a sneak peek at what we may be seeing....

Where can we see beautiful beaches, swim with dolphins, climb mountains, explore glaciers, see penguins and hang out lake-side all in the same place?

NEW ZEALAND!!!

That's right, Jacob and I are going to spend two weeks traveling around the south island of New Zealand. I am SOOOO excited (almost more so than for the actual wedding! lol). I LOVE to travel and am so grateful to have this opportunity.

Two weeks after the wedding (gives us a little time to rest up and get ready!) we are off! As I mentioned, we have a time share condo reserved for us for a week as a home base, but we'll also be traveling around a bit and staying in one of these bad boys: =)

lol... As you can tell, we are a little more adventurous than some and not exactly looking for the "lie on the beach and sunbathe" type of honeymoon (Plus, renting one of these was cheaper than renting the car we were going to get anyway!). I'm looking forward to swimming with dolphins, hiking in the mountains, kayaking in the ocean and watching Jacob try to drive a manual transmission campervan on the other side of the road with the gear shift to his left! ;) I can't wait! =)

Chocolate Anyone?

Just look at that and tell me your mouth isn't watering! I dare you! Mmmmm.... I'm hoping to win this cook book from Maria at A Chocolate Lover's Confession. You can enter her contest too by going here. But... if you win, you owe me a fudge brownie! =)

Last One Tonight... I Promise! =)

I really should be doing productive things like laundry and dishes.... lol... but no, I'm shopping online instead. =)

What do you all think? I just bought this necklace on etsy from The Beading Nest. I think it should go with my earrings (though, none of this jewelry is breaking the bank... so... if they don't go, I'll just get to shop some more! lol).

To Veil or Not To Veil....

Now that I have the dress I can start thinking about the accessories. =) I haven't yet decided if I want to wear a veil or some other kind of hair piece. I started to poke around on etsy for some hair piece ideas and here's some I'm kinda feelin'.

Opinions please!!
(click the pic for the source page)

Or maybe something simple like this....

Or maybe I'll just go to a craft store and see if I can't concoct something of my own...

What do you ladies think? Love any of them? Should I even do the hair toy thing or just stick to a veil?

My First Love...

The Oregon Coast

Jacob accepts and shares my love for the sandy vastness that is the Oregon coast. Thus our choice to be married barefoot, in the sand, just steps from the (cold) Pacific ocean. Before going dress shopping last night, I spent the day at the "coast" (we don't really call it "the beach" in Oregon since that insinuates bikinis and sunbathers... not usually recommended in Oregon) with my friend and bridesmaid Holly and her two pups. While we didn't go to "Our Beach", we were only about 15-20 miles from it. Here are is a look at our day:

Holly and Tess... this is how we dress at the Oregon coast... a LONG way from an itty-bitty bikini! =)

Happy Dogs!

Tired Tucker! LOTS Of paw prints in the sand by this point!

All in all, it was a GOOD day! =)

I Did It!

I bought my dress tonight!

Caution: This is going to be a long post! =)

It terrifies me that I actual did it... but I did it! (I'm one of those people who always worry that I made the wrong decision... but I do really love the dress. I didn't want to take it off!)

A few weeks back my mom and I went to a bridal show. I signed up for a LOT of giveaways and things and tried on a few dresses. Two of the dress shops that were there, The Bridal Gallery and Simply Grand, sent me a flier last week about a "Midnight Madness" sale that they were going to do with dresses up to 80% off. Since the two stores are about a block from each other (and there was one dress I'd tried on from S.G. at the bridal show that I kind of likes), I decided to try to make it.

I was able to get one of my bridesmaids and my mom and dad to make the drive up to go shopping with me. And I'm so glad I did because I found my dress! I tried on about 8 dresses at S.G. and then we went over to T.B.G. where I tried on three more... the first dress I tried on was it. I tried on the other two but then put the first one on again and stared at myself in the mirror for about 15 minutes. lol My mother told me it was a very pretty dress (gee... thanks mom! lol), but the look on my bridesmaid's face was what did it for me... she just stared at me and nodded her head. Then she came up and told me that she'd overheard another woman who, when she saw me come out of the dressing room, said, "If that's not her dress, I don't know what is".

I'm not going to post a picture or link to the dress because I don't trust Jacob not to peek. lol But I will tell you that it's not what I was expecting to get at all. I thought I want a straight neckline... I got a sweetheart. I thought I wanted a WHITE dress.... I got ivory. I thought I wanted something basic and simple... I got beads. lol

Another girl was at the first dress shop with a friend. We got to talking and she told me that she'd been married this summer. I asked if she "knew" when she found her dress, and she said it was funny because she had tried on a dress as a joke and ended up loving it. It just shows that you need to try on things that you don't think you'd like.

If you really want to see the dress.... send me an e-mail and I'll mail you the link... I really do want to show it off, but don't want to risk the boy seeing it! =)

Here are a couple of the best parts. My dress was originally $800. It was marked down 50%! Which is UNDER my dress budget! And yes, I bought it off the rack. I have heard brides everywhere urging, "Don't buy off the rack for your wedding dress!" But, you know what? If I can get the perfect dress for 50%, I'm gonna do it! Plus, I don't have to wait for it to get here... it already is! (Well, it's at the dress shop being stored for me anyway... but I can go visit whenever I want!)

Oh! And off the rack it fits every where but around the hips... (which is odd, 'cause I thought wedding gowns ran excessively small... but I got the dress is my usual dress size)... but if I can kick my ass into gear and lose about one inch from my hips/butt in the next 8 months (which I'm pretty sure I can do) I shouldn't have to alter the dress AT ALL (except for the bustle thingie)! Which means I'd save even more $$!) =)

Sometimes It's Really Hard Being Cheap

I'm sitting in a hotel room right now. Jacob is watching some BAD movie on the sci-fi channel and I am surfing the Internet for a place to stay on our wedding night. Since we are getting married on the beach on the Oregon coast, any decent place books up pretty early, so I'm trying to get a head start. Unfortunately, I'm kind of a cheapskate and can't justify paying what I consider "too much" for a place to sleep. To many people, what I consider "too much" is actually a pretty good deal... but, you see, I want the BEST deal! And I always feel like there's something better out there... making it really hard to make a decision. I think I may have found something... but we'll see... bah... so hard.

Lost Respect

So... I kinda lost respect for The Knot today (not that I was a HUGE fan before).

I was looking to order some cellophane favor bags that I saw in their shop. I was really excited to see that they were even on sale today. But then I looked up the shipping... it's just as much as the product! WHY?

Then I checked out Joann's... and found plastic "treat bags". They are bigger, less expensive, and have MUCH better shipping charges! (as these are only available online).

So... The Knot's favor bags would have cost me, total, about 22 cents per bag... I'm paying less than 10 cents per bag from Joann's.

If anyone from The Knot runs across this... stop charging a horrendous amount in shipping! I liked your product a bit better and probably would have still paid more for it, but the shipping is ridiculous! I know for a fact that flat rate priority shipping is about half of what you were charging for simple ground!

They're HE-ERE!

I was out of town visiting friends and family for a day when I had this, via text, conversation with Jacob.

Jacob: Your stickers arrived =)

Me: Yay!

Jacob: They look good.

Me: You looked at them?

Jacob: Yes.... should I not have?

Me: lol... no it's fine, I'm just pretty sure that MY name was on the package.

Jacob: Well... I signed for them ;)

A little sneak peak at my future, huh? lol.... no mail ordering Christmas presents for him! =)

But, anyway.... THEY ARE HERE! My wedding program/favor bag stickers from Uprinting are here!

!!!!! So happy! Now I'm off to order some favor bags so I can start DOING something hands on! lol (I'm getting impatient for all the "real" work!) =)

News!

I have some FANTASTIC non-wedding related news that I'm so happy about I want to share with everyone who will listen! lol

I got a job!!!

As I've mentioned before, I'm a student working on my Masters degree. Technically I'm a registered student at a BC university however I convinced the head of my department to let me come back to Oregon to complete the internship requirement of my degree program and write my final paper.

The economy sucks right now nationwide, but Oregon is seeing a pretty big piece of it. I read last week that Oregon is sixth in the nation in terms of unemployment percentage. Their unemployment rate of about 12% is about DOUBLE what it was this time last year. Because of this, I wanted to do my internship down in Oregon (where I was planning on returning after I completed my degree) so that I could get my foot in the door and hopefully getting a job more quickly/easily than if I returned in June with a degree and no prospects.

So, I'm doing my internship at a local social service agency. Part of my daily tasks is to search Craigslist for work that our clients may be eligible for. What this also means, however, is that I have an excuse to check the list on a daily basis for possibilities for me... and I found one!

I applied on a whim, and, THREE interviews later, they offered me the position! And they offered me the highest starting salary available! With FULL MEDICAL & DENTAL!

Having a job now, six months before I technically graduate, mean that I can use the rest of my student loan money to pay off my current debt (car and credit cards) and still have a full year to be putting away money to pay for my student loans! (Without having to pay car, credit card, and health insurance premiums, this should add up fast!). I'm SOOO excited! The only downfall is that it's a full time gig... and I still have to write my final paper for my degree... which means some serious time management over the next few months. But, I can do it. Just be forewarned that posts may be either a) few and far between or b) full of stress venting!

But still, SOO excited! I start in three weeks and I can't wait!

Time For A Humor Break!

Many of you will be reading this on your Monday morning... let me start off your week with a laugh!

These are all shots care of WEDINATOR! (My BM Holly sent me the link to this blog... hilarious!)

Many, MANY more on their website... lol... take a look!

P.S. I label this "real weddings" with some reservations! =)

Do You Like Free Stuff?

Then you should check out ArtsCow!

I heard about this website from another bridal blogger (it was awhile ago and I can't remember who it was, but, if it was you, THANK YOU!). Just for signing up you get a shit load of free* stuff!

* The products are free, you have to pay shipping, but it's still a damn good deal!

Seriously! No joke! Check it out! You get free photo prints of all shapes and sizes, as well as photo products. I ordered an 8 X 8, 20-page photo book (only paid the $7.95 shipping cost), and I am SOO happy with it. In fact, after I received it today, I ordered ANOTHER FREE ONE! =)

I don't know how they can manage to give away so many products, but it seems like a fantastic deal!

I Love You Jill!!!

In a totally platonic way of course! =)

Jill from Once Upon a Dream posted about her wedding shoes yesterday. She is in a similar situation as I in that we want to wear flats so we don't tower over our guys (yay for tall girls and not so tall guys! lol).

Some of you may remember how excited I was when I found a pair of blue flats and ordered them for my wedding shoes... and then how sad I was when there turned out to be a snafu and they actually weren't in stock in my size. =(

I've been looking for blue flats since then and have had NO luck.

BUT WAIT! Jill posted a link to some flats she found on dessy.com. She didn't end up buying them (going for some super cute pink rocket dogs instead), but guess what... I DID! =)

They aren't *quite* the shade of blue that I'm going for... but I loved them anyway and I think they will work just fine! =)

YAY! =)

Countdown

Nine months to go!! =)

Not that I wasn't completely aware that today was our 9 month mark, but I got my little reminder from The Knot in my e-mail this morning. They had a list of things to complete this month:
  1. Create Guest list
  2. Find Save the Dates
  3. Get Tradition Ideas
I'm kind of sad 'cause I've already done these things! lol I wanted some new task (I love tasks) to complete!

Jacob and I had our guest list pretty much done within a week of the proposal. I wanted to have an idea of how many people we were working with so that I knew how big our reception venue needed to be. Then, last month, we got the final list determined after getting the parents' input.

Originally Jacob and I weren't going to send out Save the Dates. Since we are only inviting family and close friends, we figured that everyone would find out the date via word of mouth, so it wasn't that big of a deal. But then I entered and WON a giveaway on the Thirty-Something Bride for free custom Save the Dates (I REFUSE to call them STDs!) from Rachel Jasper Designs. They are in the printing stage as we speak. =)

And finally, Jacob and I don't feel the need to rely on a lot of tradition in our wedding. Neither one of us is religious or deeply connected to a particular cultural background (I asked Jacob what he "was" one time, and he had no idea! lol). So, needless to say, there won't be a whole lot of tradition at our wedding. We are getting married on a beach (not in a church), with my online-ordained brother as the minister. I'm planning on being barefoot (the rest of my wedding party may be as well), and I"m not even sure yet if I"m going to wear a veil (though, after seeing some really cool "veil blowing in the wind" wedding pictures online, I'm starting to think maybe I will). Seeing as we aren't religious, I've even found a really great secular "script" for my brother to follow for the ceremony. The only real "tradition" that I think will be incorporated is that women from my mom's family wear a certain gold bracelet on their wedding day (I haven't seen the bracelet yet, and didn't even know this tradition existed until my mom's cousin got married this summer, but I've been told of it).

So... yeah.... my 9 month checklist is done on day 1. Darn!

Oh Canada!

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I am currently studying abroad... in the U.S.... in Oregon... about two hours from my home town... how is this you ask? lol It's an interesting situation actually. I am a registered student at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC (just outside of Vancouver).

A couple years back I decided I wanted to go to grad school (I'm working on my Master's in Criminology). So, I started to surf around the 'net for a school with a Crim graduate program... and my options became very limited.

Criminology is different than Criminal Justice Administration... which is what the majority of the schools I found on the west side of the U.S. have. CJA is NOT what I want. I'm more interested in why people commit crimes and how we can prevent it, not what the best punishment is for them after they do it. My choices for grad school then were somewhere on the East coast with an entire country between myself and my family and friends, or, go up north and become an international student at a Canadian university (for about 1/4 of the cost!), with only 8 hours and border crossing separating me from my loved ones. So... I chose the latter and I moved to BC.

I completed my coursework up there and then convinced the head of the Crim department to let me come back to Oregon to do my internship and write my paper (the internship I'm doing now... the paper comes in a few weeks... ugh!), so my fiance and I moved back to Oregon this past August. But I still feel that connection to BC... and, to be honest, I kinda miss it... but just a little bit, I am VERY happy to back in my home state!

However, next month Jacob and I are driving back up that way for a few days so that I can have a meeting at the school and lend my support to a classmate of mine who is defending her thesis (and get an idea of what I'll be in for this spring!). Any of you Vancouver brides/grooms wanna meet us for dinner? lol

Jacob and I in Whistler last winter

***Ooh! I just remembered about the Christmas light display at Stanley Park... I wonder if I can get Jacob to go to that with me! =)

Oregon Brides?

Are there any other Oregon bride-to-bes lurking around out there?

Leave a comment and make yourselves known! =)

My Own Special Giveaway =)

Something weird happened last night. I got an e-mail from Uprinting to redeem my free stickers.

This is weird because I already redeemed my free stickers... they are currently being printed. But, none the less, they sent me another 250 free stickers. And, not to be one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I don't want to pass these up, but I have absolutely NO REASON for more stickers! lol I had to figure out how to use the 250 I won the first time!

So, here's what I'm going to do... I'm going to pass the freebies on to someone else! You can create your sticker in one of three sizes, 2X3.5, 2X4, or 3X3 and you have to submit the design by the end of the month.

If you are interested, leave a comment on this post. Since I have no patience, and want to see who's stalking my blog (as I stalk so many others during the day... lol) you have until noon (PST) TOMORROW to enter the contest! =) Then I'll choose a person at random. Please leave your blog address or e-mail address in your comment.

I'm hoping it will work for me to just forward you the e-mail... if not, we may have to trouble shoot a bit, but I'm determined to make this happen! =)

Holy S*** Times TWO!

HS #1) When I got home from work today I had 84 new blog entries to read... I think I FINALLY have hit the "too many" wedding blog following mark! lol

HS #2) While reading those wedding blogs I ran across this article (sorry guys, I can't remember who's blog I found it on!)

Giveaway Galore!

Miss Mojito is is hosting a TON of giveaways right now from Uprinting! Head over to her site to check them out!

The two I'm interested in is the poster giveaway and the canvas print giveaway!

Katerina from Girl With a Ring is also hosting a poster giveaway AND Ashely from Bride on a Budget is hosing another Uprinting rolled canvas print giveaway. So, if you'd like a couple different chances to win these, check out over there too!

If I won the poster I want to make a big Thank You sign to use for photos for our thank yous... I got the inspiration here and REALLY want to do it!

If I won the canvas print I'd probably enlarge one of my personal photos that I've taken over the years of different places I've traveled... I've always wanted to blow one up really big and hang it as a focal point in my living room!

Always Read the Small Print... or Not?

A week or so back I won 250 stickers from the Roddy Bride's sticker giveaway. I had this big plan to use them for our invitation... however, I did not read the fine print. The stickers were only available in three sizes, 2X3.5, 2X4, and 3X3... In order for my plan to work, I needed a 4X6 sticker, which, generally Uprinting does, so I thought I was all set... WRONG! lol

Because I didn't want this free stuff to go to waste, I had to somewhat quickly come up with another idea for the stickers, as I only had about 3 weeks until the prize expired. For inspiration I drew out the sticker size options, revisited the Roddy Bride's giveaway to see what other people were going to do with the stickers if they won (btw, those of you who said you'd use them as address labels, I don't think you read the fine print either! lol... the smallest size available is about the size of a business card... those are HUGE labels!), and then asked my fiance for some thoughts/advice.

I think, together, we came up with a pretty good idea!

Ebonee, at Becoming His Mrs., posted about her DIY accordion programs... I kinda fell in love with the concept. So, Jacob and I decided to make a 3X3 sticker that we could place on the cover of the programs. Then we thought about how we were going to have 250 of these things and probably only make about 75 programs (or less), so we kept thinking.

Another thought we'd had for the wedding was to give away small bags of salt water taffy as wedding favors (perfect for a beach wedding, right?). We figure that we can do double duty with these stickers and make them for the programs AND as labels for the candy bags! So, I went to work creating a simple sticker that could work in both places... and this is what I came up with:

Photobucket

I'm pretty happy with it. For some reason the picture of us looks weird via computer screen, but seems to print out o.k., so I'm hoping this will work out as expected.

Here's the kicker though! I fell in LOVE with the sunflower coming out of the top corner of the sticker, as did Jacob, so we decided to redesign our invitation mock up with the same basic style as the sticker... and we LOVE it! I'm not going to show it quite yet (in case I change my mind again), but, in the end, not reading the fine print actually turned out for the best for us. =)

New Sponsorship!

I am now sponsored by UPrinting! Which (I think! lol) means that I should have some giveaways for you in the near future! =) I'm excited!

Hair

Here is (pretty much) what my hair looked like 4 hours ago...

Here's what it looks like after an HOUR AND A HALF in "the chair"...

And another one for Jacob. He thinks I'm cute in my glasses (I'm still desperately waiting for my new contacts)...

He says I look like Chloe now... but he says it with this really goofy grin on his face, so I think that's a good thing! =)

P.S. I looked into it before I made "the cut" and apparently human hair grows about half an inch a month on average, so I'll be back to hair on my shoulders by the wedding! Perfect for a cute updo!

Yay for MOH's with High Tech Jobs!

I've been stressing about my reception venue the last couple of days. When we looked at the place the room was empty so I couldn't really picture how many tables/etc. could fit. I asked the coordinator and I was told 125 with a dance floor and 150 without. As we are planning to have about 100 people this was just perfect for me.

Then I started getting ideas for decorations and realized that I needed a little more information... like, the dimensions of the room. I e-mailed the coordinator and asked, and she responded back with table and room dimensions. They sounded very disproportionate to me. So, yesterday I created a little mock up of the room and tried to make everything to scale to figure out how we were going to fit 12-13 tables dinner tables, buffet tables, cake table, gift table, etc. in this room. I was NOT finding a way to do so without having about 2 feet between each table. I started to stress a little bit.

As a joke, I told my MOH that she should figured out how to make it work. She lives halfway across the country and isn't going to be easily accessible for the majority of the wedding planning stuff, so I'm trying to keep her involved however possible. =) She sent me an e-mail back saying the same thing I feared... "I don't think it's going to happen".

Then I remembered that there was another section of the room that was being used as storage when we were there (it was blocked off by a removable wall) but we were told that we'd be able to use that space as well. I e-mailed the coordinator again asking for those dimensions and then forwarded them off to my MOH. About 10 minutes later she sent me this:

LOL... NOT what I was expecting! What I guess I should have mentioned is that my MOH is some sort of aeronautical engineer or something (I don't REALLY know what she does! lol) and has access to all kinds of fun programs at work... one of which, apparently, figures out banquet seating! Yay! =) Obviously there are a few obstacles that she didn't include in this (doors, the bar, etc.), but it's a huge relief to realize that I have this sort of brain/technology at my disposal! =)

Thanks Josie!

11-Year Old Girl Gives Birth on Wedding Day

A link to this story was posted up on The Groom's Wedding Blog at TheManRegistry.com... it just makes me so sad... not only thinking about the life of this bride and mother, but also that there are still countries out there where the lack of sexual education could lead to something like this happening... (though, I am by no means naive enough to think that it doesn't happen in the U.S. as well... *sigh*)

Girl, 11, gives birth on wedding day

13:30 AEST Mon Nov 2 2009
By ninemsn staff

An 11-year-old girl who gave birth on her wedding day while still dressed in a white gown and a tiara says she is excited to "have a new toy".

Kordeza Zhelyazkova from Bulgaria gave birth to 2.4kg baby girl Violeta last week but left the hospital with her newborn after only an overnight stay to finish the wedding ceremony, the News of the World reports.

The schoolgirl said she and 19-year-old husband Jeliazko Dimitrov met in the playground of her school in the industrial town of Sliven after he saved her from bullies.

Kordeza said the pair began a sexual relationship even though she did not know what a condom was and fell pregnant within a week of them meeting.

"I'm not going to play with toys anymore — I have a new toy now," she was quoted by the paper as saying.

"She is so beautiful, I love her ... Violeta is the child and I must grow up.

"I am not going back to school — I am a mother now."

Kordeza said she did not realise she was pregnant until her grandmother pointed out her weight gain.

"I just thought I'd eaten too many burgers," she said.

But Mr Dimitrov could be jailed for up to six years for having sex with a girl under 14.

"I'm scared ... I want to look after my wife and child ... instead I may be going to prison," he said.

"I made a mistake but I am not going to apologise for that because now I have beautiful Violeta."

Kordez said she was not planning on having any more children.

Yet ANOTHER Giveaway!

Another Giveaway!

The headband... not the bear =) Check out Miss Mojito's giveaway over at With this ring, I thee blog!

TWENTY FOLLOWERS!! (And some other stuff!)

My "follower" count has been at 19 for awhile... I've been watching, waiting for number 20... and today it came! lol... Thank you Born to Be Mrs. Beaver! =)

It's kind of funny how the wedding blog community really becomes a community. I have gained so much inspiration and fantastic ideas of the last few months. I have my "favorites" too... those from who I look forward to reading new posts and can't wait to see their recaps in a few short months. So far it's been a fantastic experience... and I still have 9 months (and MANY more blogs, I'm sure!) before my big day! =)

As I was checking out To-Be-Mrs.-Beaver's blog today, I read over her "get to know us" survey and thought I'd fill it out for myself and my fiance (though, I THINK I may have done something similar in the past, so, bear with me!):

1. What are your middle names?

Lynn and Joseph... we are BOTH named after our grandfathers! Go figure =)

2. How long have you been together?
2 years in January

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We met on Craiglist... I think we "chatted" for about 3 or 4 days before we had our first actual date. =)

4. Who asked who out?
I posted a personal... he responded... we "chatted". He was the first one to actually ask to meet me.

5. How old are each of you?
27 (me) and 28 (him) we are 362 days apart. =) We enjoy our "birthday weekends"!

6. Did you go to the same school?
Nope. Though we have found people that we both know from different times in our lives... it's such a small world.

7. Are you from the same home town?
Nope. He grew up in Eastern Oregon, I grew up on the west side =)

8. Who is the smartest?
It really depends on the subject. He is a sciencey/computer guy and I'm the sociological girl.

9. Who majored in what?
He started as a physics major... and then changed to computer science... and then ultimately left the university to get his massage certification! lol When I inquired about the huge leap from science to massage he said that it was "next on his list". =) I have my BA in Criminology and am currently working on my Master's degree in the same.

10. Who is the most sensitive?
I think we are sensitive in our ways... though mine is DEFINITELY more outwardly visible! =)

11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Hmm... we lived in BC together for about a year... though that was only 8 hours from home, it still felt like quite the distance! We went to Honolulu together last spring, and Vegas together the summer before.

12. Who has the worst temper?
Me. And don't really have a temper, but he is a LOT more patient with people/situations than I am.

13. How many children do you want?
I think we are pretty set at two.... We saw a dad pushing a stroller full of triplets the other day and Jacob turned to me and said, "That's not happening... I'll shove one right back in there!" LOL

14. Who does the cooking?
We tend to take turns. Though, I think in the long run I do a little more... but I think that's because I think about food (my aunt's husband mentioned that our family sits down to lunch thinking about what to have for dinner! It's true...) he just eats when he's hungry, so less forethought is put into it and, thus, it's not always the healthiest of meals.

15. Who is more social?
I think I am. I need to be outside with people on a semi daily basis (even if it's just strolling through the neighborhood), while he's perfectly content playing a computer game all afternoon (though, to be fair, he DOES play with other people around the world, so, I guess that's social in it's own way). At the same time though, we are both pretty shy people and have a few CLOSE friends between us.

16. Who is the neat freak?
Neither one of us is particularly neat... but I think we're pretty much the same in this area. Occasionally one of us will get the bug to organize something, and we'll do it.

17. Who is the most stubborn?
I'd say me again. lol

18. Who wakes up earlier?
Probably me... I have to leave the house for work... he works from home, which means he needs exactly 2 minutes to through on some pants and stumble into his office for the day! lol

19. Where was your first date?
Shari's =)

20. Who has the bigger family?
I do... my family is huge with all the extended family members. I have three brothers, my mom has two sisters, and my dad has SEVEN siblings... this adds up to a lot of cousins and aunts and uncles.

21. Do you get flowers often?
No.... in fact, I don't think Jacob has EVER gotten me flowers.... hmmm....

22. How do you spend the holidays?
Usually my family celebrates Thanksgiving on Friday since my dad's work schedule always had him working on Thursdays, so that holiday works out quite well. However, my dad is retired now, so I really have no idea how it's going to play out this year. As for Christmas, it depends on what the situation is. Our families live about 2 hours apart, so it's pretty easy to hit up both households in one day (or between the two) if we can schedule it out right.

23. Who is more jealous?
We are not jealous people (which has kicked me in the ass before, but it's just not who I am).

24. How long did it take to get serious?
We got pretty serious pretty early on (he decided to move to a foreign country with me after knowing me for 4 months!). It made me nervous, but Jacob was so sure that I just went along with it... and now look where we are! =)

25. Who eats more?
He does

26. What do you do for a living?
I am currently a student working on my Master's in Criminology, though I have worked in social services for the past 4 years or so (since getting my BA). Jacob works from home doing database development and other computery stuff for an irrigation company (he also has his massage therapy licenses, but has taken a hiatus from that this past year).

27. Who does the laundry?
Generally it's me. It USE to be that I'd do the laundry and he'd do the dishes... but then we got a dishwasher, so I'm starting to rethink this arrangement =P

28. Who's better with the computer?
Him, hands down. When I'm at work (at my school related internship) and don't know how to do something, I call him for help. lol My supervisor is probably pretty impressed with my "advanced" computer skills! lol

29. Who drives when you are together?
Generally him... he likes it

30. What is your song?
T-Pain's "Low" (the apple bottom jeans song)! lol No... we don't really have "a song", but this one came on the radio EARLY in our relationship and he started dancing around to it in the car. So now, whenever I hear it, I think of him and remember how much I love that goofy side of his! =)
